Sleeping Beauty Poem by Leah Ayliffe

Sleeping Beauty

Rating: 2.8

It is like a stranger to me now
how time loses its wonder
the value of the rain
the sadness of these years
tranquil to silence
since the power to hold on
is wearing thin
let the rain race to the ground
I need to feel each drop
soak through to my core
to my soul
I want to awaken once more
instead I'm entranced in numbness
walking through the streets a ghost.
I want to feel the fears of a nightmare
to endure the pleasure of a dream.
blank stares carry on
time still stirring
going by so fast, so slow
with each ignored beat of my heart
keep falling drops
stay crying sky above me
for someone needs to succumb to tears
instead of the emptiness I am
breaking away to nothing
all dressed up for sleep
for I have been sleeping for years
Only to be awaken by the kiss of heavens tears
