Sleepy-Bye Time Poem by Jonathan Goldman a.k.a JGthepoet

Sleepy-Bye Time

Rating: 5.0

‘What time is it? ’ I hear her cry,
It’s time I went to bed,
At three in the morn, when I’m so tired,
My pillow awaits my head.

‘I’ll be up in a minute’ I say again.
It’s my nightly refrain
When words for a poem come to mind,
Her nagging drives me insane.

It’s one of the reasons we live apart,
She can’t cope with my daily routine,
Up at seven to take tablets,
And to bed at the time of Matins.

I wander around searching for words
That do rhyme with the line just before
The one that I’m now writing down,
As I get up to go to the door.

Oh, what was that word I had just before?
It’s just left my Mind in a rush,
I’ll think again to recall it to Mind,
And finish this poem thus.

This is adorable, Jonathan. How I hate it when I have the 'perfect' word or phrase, only to have it vanish before I can get it written or typed! An imperfect memory is the writer's bane! My warmest regards, CJ
