Slip Knot Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Slip Knot

No longer bonded to me you show.
Slip knot from your finger,
Is that band of gold.

More I am told,
You sneak behind my back.
To leave wondering with whom your are with,
And where you are at.

I sleep in empty reaches.
I pace cold floors in bare feet.
Through closed blinds I hope to see you.
But you are not there.
With another your nakedness,
Sweats in heat.

No longer bonded to me you show.
Slip knot from your finger,
Is that band of gold.

I hold it clutched!
Trying to understand...
Why I bother to care.
Why do I want you still wearing it?
