Slumber Poem by Robert Sheridan

Slumber

Frequentative on the slight notion of
intermittent light sleep - attesting to
the year circa 1386; probably from
Old English sluma meaning golden
slumber... will fill your eyes.

A natural and periodic state of rest
During which consciousness of the
world is in a state of suspended
animation - calm as a child without
any cares or fears.

It's often followed by away, out, or
through; and he/she that doth not
take the occasional warm glass of
milk, may not slumber - better to
have a good night's sleep.

Enjoy the honey-heavy dew of
slumber - rest your soul and
awake with glowing vitality;
talented and favored; go on,
make all the insomniacs jealous!
