Small Death Poem by shokat habib

Small Death

Sitting under the dark shadow
Lowered lashes, bent under yoke

protection of prayer submitted
bask in perfume of passion

dancing to the drums of joy
lusting in the scent of mother earth

twined sun and dust fused in one
life beats in life of a dollar purchase

dew drops of dried human cell
warm and brittle life a meal in a week

in the canyons of the body destroyed
poverty screams in wild fist to the sky

waves smash against the rock again
again and again batters and shatters

heavy heavy breath sighs into silence
slumber sweet and soft on silk dream

sweat in sweat love sleeps hope in death
to rise and love life in small death breath
