Poet's Notes about The Poem

The narrator is pleading a person to be happy for them in this poem. The narrator wants them to feel the happiness they are supposed to feel while they are feeling miserable. Also, if the person is happy when the narrator is not then that means they are a true friend.

    Sometime that makes it easier, other times that make it all the harder. Is a smile upon tears defined as being happy or sad? A calling to be something your not, oh you try with all your heart, because that is what your friend wants. But sometimes it can only be temporary. A moment, then a moment gone. As the sun sets on the horizon the clouds roll on in and it begins to pour. (Report) Reply
