Smile Behind The Sadness Poem by Vera Sidhwa

Smile Behind The Sadness

That smile behind that sadness,
Was existing forever,
In a sunny place,
Where heaven dwelt amongst light.

For if we were to cry continuously,
Then nature would bow now and do the same.
All mankind would cry simultaneously,
And the spirit of nature would destroy,
All the inborn happiness of all in all of us.

Why do we cry then, humankind?
Why do we in bombs and explosions,
Feel joy in,
In bad choices dwell in?

Why do we do heinous acts continuously?
Why put dissatisfaction in others' lives,
Why rivalry and distrust all around.
We love to play power and competition.

Because we never care to bring out the beautiful.
That smile behind that madness.
That smile behind that sadness.
The smile of the everlasting and showing gladness.

The smile that shown in a sunlit place,
Inside us always.
