So Far Away Poem by James Walter Orr

So Far Away

Oh, how I feel you ache, so far away,
and wish your pain to take, so far away.

I see your face contort itself with pain.
Oh, how my heart does break, so far away.

Your pain, I can not banish from my thoughts.
In bed, I lie awake, so far away.

The past comes back to haunt me, and I cry.
I sense your body quake, so far away.

How can I feel such agony again,
and know that same mistake, so far away?

The same perverse hormonal grip of soul,
demands that I partake, so far away.

Oh, how I wish and want, but how I must,
my feelings somehow brake, so far away.

Easy to tear my heart out by the roots,
wishing, just for your sake, so far away.
