So Warm To My Face



i see wide span of desert
not breathing soul for miles
heat wave swirl to an anger
i pick handful let it drip slow
this is dry snow, fossil of rock
lush mountain that came apart

it has life of its own throbbing
reaching out scarce moisture
deflecting sunlight to outer space
sheltering bugs, snakes, plants
well hidden deep far from eyes
mysterious, powerful, it defies
