Soldier's Postulation Poem by Ron Pate

Soldier's Postulation

Soldier's Postulation

Send me home, I'm tired and need to rest. Hold my hand as we cross the sea, back to the land of you and I.  Kiss my parched lips one more time, cause I'm afraid it may be my last.  Carry me at quarter step, so I may admire the beauty surrounding me, before I leave.
Please send me home, I'm tired and need to rest.
Memories elude me except one of a beautiful meadows, turning red in bloodshed, my friend dying within my arms and upon hearing his last words, a sharp pain in drives deep into my chest..
Please send me home, I'm tired and need to rest.
Inter me beneath a beautiful tree, so I can see the leaves come and go as each season passes.. My request has been honored, I'm at home and at rest...
