Some Dream Of War Poem by Joseph Narusiewicz

Some Dream Of War

Rising in the shadows beyond the sun
Morning leaves like a silent memory
Burning pyre of Odin’s dream
Sacred sword
Knights fight the plague
Flagellants
Kings of order
Pillage the coffers of Constantinople
Aqueducts bring wine bright with blood
Crimean queens of the Black sea
Ships with ghost sails
Dadaists of surreal chance
Run for the fall out shelters
Teutonic steel horses blitzkrieg

There you are amidst the lost
Languorous myth amidst Hellene roses
Ideals in form and structure
Grace spoiled in the art of war
Under the pyramids
Euclidian wonder
Sky lit flames of Prometheus
Surrender to fall angels
Darkness rides the jungles
Lions of heathen shields
Rage like fog over Paris
Ringing epithets
Insanity dances in the fields of Moloch
Golden children fornicate

Beyond the sun with painted faces
Earth and blood
Warriors
Red with lust and slaughter
Extinguish this fire of idols
Sacrifice yourself to gargoyles
Shaped in iniquity
Her kiss is heathen fire
Forests of orange Mars
No asylum
Gather the dead
Firebombs in the incendiary night
Stars without counsel
Sarcophagus

Armies warped with spells
Your hour has come
March for the cryptic god
These symbols on caves
Noble killers join great causes
Kamikazes
Deep in the heart Goya paints
Everything ends
Pass of Thermopolis
Trojans
Vermillion soldiers cry
Blinded like Samson
Philistine orators
Some dream of war
