Some Memory- Surprise Pops Up! Poem by Margo Reid

Some Memory- Surprise Pops Up!

I used to watch TV, channel two
A good way to get the news for sure
The things I used to do
Really doesn’t matter anymore

I like to stay in and read a good poem book
Going to parties isn’t the thing for me
I like to write poems, draw, or entertain people with what I cook
This is part of me, I like to be

I remember when my baby came into this world
High yellow skin, big D brown eyes, long black curly hair
A beautiful baby girl
My very own precious angel, with love and care
Now she’s 18 months old
She’s talking way too much
And Madison is doing what she’s told
But everything in sight she touch

Our house isn’t quiet like it used to be
My niece and my daughter playing and screaming everywhere
The happiness of them two, running around free
And toys for them to share
Sometimes it hard for them to lend a toy to each other
My daughter will say, “Its mind, and my niece say- ‘NO!
Then she’ll run and cry for her mother
I’ll say, “Which way did my daughter go? ”
My sister would say, “She ran the other way
I’ll Say, “Do you know? She’ll say, “I don’t know! ”
I’ll say, “This is it for the day! ”
It’s time for a nap

I don’t remember getting a good night sleep
Just getting up, to work the next day
Or hear the alarm clock beep
It’s just the kind of thing that keeps moving me anyway

This is what I know
Sometimes things come to surprise us, when we least expect it
Drop dead on our head
What a huge hit
We might end up dead, or die in our bed

I try to enjoy the time I have with my daughter everyday
Because I never know, when the time comes for me to go
I might end up dead, because tomorrow never promise to me anyway
