Somebody Else's Blues Poem by Jack Meads

Somebody Else's Blues

Read the news, shed some tears, people sigh as life goes by
babies born and old folks die,
but we're alright we're ok
'cos it's somebody else's blues

The doorbell rings can we spare a coin?
conscience eased for moment in time,
we've done our bit for the hurtin' kind but, we're ok
we're alright cos it's somebody else's blues.

Heard a friend had lost a son was it drugs, maybe a gun?
A nine day wonder then we carry on
cos we're ok we're alright
it's somebody else's blues.

Can we know the pain of cold and fire, when all we feel is lost desire
when terror stalks have we smelt the fear?
No lets be very clear
it's somebody elses blues
