Somerset Carol Poem by Sue Oxley

Somerset Carol

And as for me
I am a starling in the middle of the swooping flock
And as for me
I am a berry on the Holy tree
But you dear Lord
Are the Power and the Love and the Joy of all the world
And yet
Your care is enfolding me.

And as for me
I am a tiny speck of dust in the mighty storm
And as for me
I am a pebble in the swirling sea
But you dear Lord
Are the Word of the Life that created all the Universe
And yet
Your love is surrounding me.

And as for me
I am a the smallest grain of wheat that hides in the earth
And as for me
I am a snowflake on the Christmas tree
But you dear Lord
Are the Bringer of the Light that shines in all that lives
And yet
Your joy is uplifting me.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this for the BBC Carol competition one year. Didn't win, not even shortlisted, but I like it. There is another one on this site which I like more!
