Something Changed

something has changed
not sure what it is
no longer is it okay
to stay hidden

something has changed
now is the time
letting go of crutches
knowing I'll be fine

like I've been tied to a rock
and now cut free
can see my own power
over the possibilities

answered prayers
oppression lifted
always said I'd rather be beat
than verbally damaged

and words of a friend
that once offended
because no one looked at the real me
have become a strength
and direction to take
now that I believe there's something
worth revealing

Mingle its crimpled leaves with furze and ling,
While the old heron from the lonely lake
Starts slow and flaps its melancholy wing,
