Something Lovely / "I took the piss out of it"

I was "in the zone" on a springtime run...
...when I wrote a poem about something lovely....

I hearkened to the voice of the Muse—
And she answered quite clearly—
In brilliant metaphors,
In euphonies,
In tropes—
And in all things poetic—
Her words sounding like music—
Her lines arranged like The Words of Love—

If such a book existed—

But later, at my desk,
with squinting eyes,
I began to think
and conclude
that everything
that I had written
was too obvious to call novel
or too "on the nose" to astonish—

So I pressed my favorite button of the bunch—
the one that obliterates the words that I simply regurgitated—

The button that casts "all things poetic" into the Hell of Nowhere—
until nothing was left but the words, "I took the piss out of it"—

And from this, I added,
"I am not a poet anymore"....
