SOMETHING YOU FORGOT

I REMEMBER
THE TIMES WE SHARED
FILLED WITH LAUGHTER AND SHEERS
THE TIMES WE CRYED
WHEN WE TRIED SO HARD
NO TO FALL APART
TO STAY TOGETHER
LIKE THREADED LEATHER
BUT I REMEMBER
ITS JUST
SOMETHING YOU FORGOT

I REMEMBER
THE TIMES WE TALKED
THE STEPS WE WALKED
THE DAY IT RAINED
WHEN YOU AND I LAYED
TO REST AND MY HEAD ON YOUR CHEST
KEPT ME IN PLACE
WHILE I LOOKED AT YOUR FACE
BUT I REMEMBER
IS JUST
SOMETHING I FORGOT

I REMEMBER
IT LIKE YESTERDAY
WHEN GRANDMA DIED
I CAN STILL FEEL
THE TEARS FROM MY EYES
WHICH DRYED AS I CRIED
KEPT ME FROM DYING
BUT YET TRYING
BUT I REMEMBER
ITS JUST
SOMETHING YOU FORGOT

I AM not One who much or oft delight
To season my fireside with personal talk.--
