Son And Father Poem by Vlad Mutuleanu

Son And Father

Oh my Son don`t fall in love,
Don´t let it drown you
Don´t fall into that accursed dream
Don`t follow it into the abyss
Don´t let it break you.

Oh dear Father what can I do?
I thought love was predictable,
I thought I knew enough
But then I fell for it
And my heart broke into half.

Then Son don´t let go
Of that other half,
Don`t give it to someone
Just hold on to it
Till a moment, at last.

Dear old Father
I respect and love you
But this I cannot do,
My half is already given
And my love is too.

Oh my Son, my poor child
What have you done
Your innocence, the flower of youth,
You`ve fallen into a trap
A trap only laid for fools.

Father, don´t speak so
You think love is a curse,
You say it is cold abyss
When to me
Is the sweetest kiss.

Oh this love has changed you Son
You see hope in everything
You are blinded in that darkness
You will not listen to me
And my words won`t protect you.

Father, Father, Father
My ears hear your words
And acknowledge them
But this love is too great
For it to just surrender.

Son, I wish to have told you sooner
I wish to have been
A better Father
But this thing you call love
Is just a life of trouble.

I know Dad, I understand you
I may suffer for my love
I may regret it everyday
But if I don`t believe in it
I´m just the shadow of a man.
