Sonnet 1 - Broken Kisses Poem by Grant Vavra

Sonnet 1 - Broken Kisses

Rating: 5.0

They say that true love’s kiss is but a dream
An escape from the pains of apathy
A medicine held in highest esteem
A poison to those who without love be

The longing heart in want of commitment
To find its counterpoint in another
The longing lips yearning for fulfillment
Whose suffocation can to love smother

In time, my love, do these words not ring true
For suns and moons dull love’s acuity
My moon doth cycle towards beauty anew
And heart race with newfound alacrity

Within me I have found a measure broke
A beast in its own time has been awoke

They say that true love’s kiss is but a dream
An escape from the pains of apathy
A medicine held in highest esteem
A poison to those who without love be

The longing heart in want of commitment
To find its counterpoint in another
The longing lips yearning for fulfillment
Whose suffocation can to love smother

In time, my love, do these words not ring true
For suns and moons dull love’s acuity
My moon doth cycle towards beauty anew
And heart race with newfound alacrity

Within me I have found a measure broke
A beast in its own time has been awoke
