Sonnet # 152 Poem by John A. Hancock

Sonnet # 152

Between clouds of black and grey
Ethereal stars twinkle bright
Silent flashes dim with each new bolt
The firery sky ignites
Rolling thunder beaks the calm
Still hangs the humid air
Neither leaf nor fragrant petal stirs
Beneath the strobe like glare
The scent of rain breathes anticipation
Prelude to a cooling shower
Tranquil moments ere the heavens unleash
Thor and Zeus's mighty power
When time stands still and nature holds it breath
The beguiling peace a summer storm begets
