Sonnet Modern: Elections In India, May 2016

Democracy is riddled by loop-holes,
That politicians use as advantage;
The votes of poor can be purchased by doles,
As mathematics wins - the key message!
The scorching summer's heat has made all hot;
But not all voters can be easily bought.

The land is hit by floods and drought that scare;
The heinous crimes are turning worse each day;
The average farmer cannot losses bear;
The ones in power adamant, all stay;
But when will come reprieve, all ask and pray;
God rules the heavens, earth has gone astray!

Select the un-corrupt by election,
And party that ushers prohibition!
