Sonnet: Money Buys What Merit Can'T! Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: Money Buys What Merit Can'T!

When hopes, desires, ambitions and goals
Get dashed to ground and chances, life denies,
And youngsters have to change their earthly roles
As life becomes a gambling game like dice!

When meritorious students have no choice
But join some course they get but don’t relish,
How can their hearts and minds ever rejoice,
But sulk and tread on paths they don’t cherish?

This is the honest state of things today!
A child can’t pursue learning that interests;
With it comes lack of jobs with proper pay!
A youngster does just things he/she detests!

Money can buy a seat in any place,
But not in heaven for the human race!
