Sonnet: On My Brother’s Marriage Anniversary Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: On My Brother’s Marriage Anniversary

It is your marriage anniversary-
The day two hearts were blessed as man and wife
In Church: before the Lord, you did marry,
With pledge to love and share each other’s strife!

The gentleman looked neat in attire;
The lady dressed almost like a fairy:
Bejeweled gorgeously in a saree;
While thanks-giving hymns sung were by lyre.

The nuptial knots were tied on sacred thread
On earth, but marriage was made in heaven;
‘Let none break what I’ve joined today, ’ God said;
You thanked the Lord for this and said, Amen!

Yes, many years have testified this truth;
The gift of child- proof of God bless’d a fruit!
