I clasped the Book of Life onto my chest! O God, I pray to never give it up; And as I read I know it is the best, As God empties my Life’s most bitter-cup.
O God, Let wisdom me emancipate; Let foolish desires not fill my mind; O protect me from crimes, men perpetrate; My peace of mind in Thee alone, I find.
Let fortitude afill my mind and heart, Through which alone comes wisdom that I seek; Let follow prudence/ temperance/ thinking-art; A mind and heart that remains humble/ meek.
The Bible gives me all my wisdom God, To live a virtuous life, spared from Thy rod!
