Sonnet: The ‘wise’ Fool! Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: The ‘wise’ Fool!

Your mind was busy thinking, things of own;
Your heart was not present in doing good;
Your body functioned in ways lustful known;
Your soul remained as sinful as it could!

Oh, man of experience and worldly taste!
You seem to forget God’s awesome power;
You failed to keep your body and mind chaste;
You nipped the buds before they could flower!

You never feared the God who gave you years;
Your tongue used disdainful words with freedom;
Your eyes were blind and deaf remained your ears;
Your earthly knowledge can’t become wisdom.

You never heeded scriptures divine Word!
Will God forgive your sinful past record?
