Sonnet - Virtues Stay Forever Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet - Virtues Stay Forever

Rating: 5.0

Just as how light dispels any darkness,
So also, knowledge drives off ignorance;
Revenge is captive held by forgiveness,
Lies are held in check by Truth's performance.

The world does one thing and says another;
The world says one thing and does something else;
You can't rely on your own dear brother;
To lie and to deceive, the world compels.

The paint of cheating flakes with time;
Mere bricks of truth get soon exposed to all;
Nothing distorts the beauty of a rhyme;
The foundation matters too, for a wall.
Yet, people prefer vices to virtues,
The rope that draws well-water ain't a noose.
