Sonnet: When Death Comes… Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: When Death Comes…

When death comes like a robber in the night,
And steals away the elderly lives fast,
Who offer no resistance or a fight,
The shock doesn’t linger but becomes the past!

When death comes like an eagle on a mouse,
And claws away the unwary rodent,
Bereft and empty long remains the house:
The shock remains without a precedent!

When death snatches a loved and little one
Like jaws of crocodile near river sands,
The gruesome murder cannot be undone,
A life-long grief to family, then it hands!

When accidents or cancer kills the young,
Of family, friends, relatives, dumb turns tongue!

‘When death strikes suddenly, all you can do is
pray for the departed soul to rest in peace! ’
