Sonnet: Whither Global Peace? Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: Whither Global Peace?

The world wants Peace and labours towards it;
Thro' dialogues and joint-efforts and talks;
Security of life's always at threat;
Despite the cost and progress in all walks.

But Peace at what cost, so phenomenal?
And global peace is transient thro' war,
Effects on earth are international,
As Death can be caused from a near-by star.

Some people get too Nobel Prize for Peace;
Fragile and maintained by the Gun's barrel;
with Terrorism now a new disease,
Eluding cure as Nations fall unwell.

How can the world go on without Peace?
And how exorbitant shall be its fees?
