Sonnet: Who Is Greater Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: Who Is Greater

Who is the greater- the old or the new?
Who is the more praiseworthy of the two?
Which is more beauteous- the mist or the dew?
Which is more gorgeous- eye or bird’s eye-view?

Old records set by the former great men
May get humbled with time today, may be!
Techno-advances have widened our ken;
Are later men greater than the Hillary?

Discoveries of those olden-day men,
Were pioneers in trying conditions?
Poetry of today looks more modern,
But can’t outdo the older renditions.

Pioneers in a field are far too great;
Later achievers must accept defeat.
