Sonnet: With Parents Gone… Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: With Parents Gone…

As long as parents live, the family stays
With harmony 'midst members, weaved by love;
Once they are gone, much shaken turns the base,
As rivalry and fight for wealth starts now!

The father slogged as bread-winner for all;
The mother toiled at house-hold chores for long;
The children heeded to their beck and call,
And life on earth was like a happy song!

With parents old, the perfection got lost;
With parents sick, more confusion prevailed;
When parents died, peace had become a ghost!
Amity 'midst the children clearly failed!

With parents gone, home turns an empty shell,
And loosed on earth is pitch-darkness like hell.
