Soul Mate

Cassandra if folks ask you where you knew me from tell them the truth
The story of me and you has eternal roots

A long time ago in a realm called heaven God took a soul and split it in two
Then he sent them to earth and they formed me and you

Thirteen years later they came together when we were just youth
That’s when I met you at Orange Middle School
I came to your class and I was so brand new
There were many faces in that classroom but I only saw you

Even then I didn’t realize it but I had a crush on you
That it would last this long only God knew
And that you would inspire me to write poetry, he knew that too
And he knows that one day you’ll be my boo
Then we can both testify that dreams do come true!
