Gilbert Alasa (Edo State, Nigeria)
Sounds of Broken Lips
Sometimes I cry, somedays I groan
Yet, no one seems to behold
This ever-flowing tears
In this dark world I fare
Whose gloom the stars half-shone
At times I murmur, at times I grumble
Who cares what cause the tears a shed
Even from my nose its blood bled
No pal nor foe the stain cleanse, I moan
Blinking the badge at the lonely sky, I foam
Attempting not to dash the jaw a toss, dispensed
Screaming, yet voice not heard
Squatting in confines not consented, lo
My passion judged by your own!
