Spires Of Wild - Poem by C.J. Middleton

spires of wild scratch at the sky
reaching and wanting as the ebb of my mind
a figure runs through them from the figure behind
bound by the father in aging decline

The spires are blackened and held by the binds
tugging and pulling as their patience undwinds
the figure is pacing between them at rates
for which the figure ahead cannot compensate

the act is forsaken, but the spires still reach
and the figure ahead plants, steady, his feet
the figure behind will race on ahead
as his wanting becomes him and efforts are spent
