'Sprained Ankle' Poem by Oscar Sarceno

'Sprained Ankle'

I'm laying down
Resting and recovering
Hoping to heal this broken ankle!

I wish that I could take something to ease the pain,
To dissolve the pain
but there's no such thing.

I toss and turn in bed hoping for the swelling to disappear.

I want to jog, jump, run,
sprint, even dance!
I'd rather do anything instead
of laying down on this bed.

But unfortunately the only
medicine is resting.

I would give anything to have you back
And now I know
that it's true...
You never know what you have until
you lose it!
(I just had 2 learn it the hard way huh?)

Now, I realize how much I really need you.
I'm so sorry for hurting you and not
appreciating everything you do.

You've been caring my weight
since day one.
Holding me up through the
good and bad times.

You never gave up on me..
So what kind of a guy would I
be, if i gave up on you
When you need me most?

I promise to be by your side,
Watching you heal back
To normal.

So...heal fast because I
Need you!
