Springs First Shots Will Liberate Mountain Passes Poem by Terence George Craddock

Springs First Shots Will Liberate Mountain Passes

Rating: 5.0

summer comes late in high mountain passes
springs first shots burst through ice patches
ice dripping melting raining crystal body shrinking
ice caner eaten by sun heat thaws ice melt pelt dying
first spring shots burst forth in light melt sunny patches
not in cold dark still tomb grip bound winter refuges
spring shots pop up through watercolour smear patches
artist palette rotting white ice body corpses dissipating

sun warmth ripping shredding winter canvas choke holds
springs first shots emerald ribbons grow among earth smears
brown slushy defrosting earth patches slip into growth grasses
in short season advances stems bub on twigs in tree branches
jointing stems slender sheathing leaves growing curling unfolding
shade upon shade pastel greens replace fur ice pelt cold colours
