Springtime Poem by bilbo reid

Springtime

Rating: 5.0

The soft grass dampened by the dew
Forget-me-nots around my feet
Above my head the songbirds flew
Hear them whistle twitter and tweet
I stopped for a while and took a pew
A fallen tree makes a perfect seat
The skies are a brilliant cobalt blue
White fluffy clouds in lines so neat

The bees so busy buzzing bye
Collecting nectar in great haste
The fluttering wings of a butterfly
Warm spring days they will not waste
This earth we roam pleases the eye
With a perfect day i have been graced
A wafting breeze passes with a sigh
It brings perfumes that your senses taste

And high up in the tall oak trees
The woodpecker beats his frantic drum
To a rythm that it plays with ease
Young rabbits dancing having fun
Hear the rustle of the shimmering leaves
Reaching out for the springtime sun
And the dandelion with its clock of seeds
See them float away as the breezes come

From bough to bough the squirrel sails
clinging tight with nimble toes
The hazel shrub draped in lambs tails
With upright branches standing in a pose
Make fine walking sticks for legs that ail
Likewise supporting the wild rose
Its scented petals so pink and pale
But along its stem sharp thorns in rows

A call of danger from the moorhen
Almost invisible in the dark shade
Just the ripples from its brood of ten
Reflecting the sunlight before they fade
A flash of a kingfisher now and then
A sudden brightness through the glade
Whithin its beak the fish they glisten
As it flits from perch to the nest it's made

So when you're out in your beautiful land
Take a rest for a while and feel the glow
And without interference from a single man
Mother nature has given us quite a show
Let us keep it that way for as long as we can
For us humans need a place of solitude to go
It may be a cathederal with a coral band
But for some of us its simply out there in our land.

Simply beautiful bilbo, the imagery is fantastic such that I can virtually feel that breeze and smell the roses.

The beauty and joys of natural laid out in a sweetly flowing, well cadenced poem. This is my type of poetry. A great write and a joy to read
