Sprouts From Ash Poem by Isaac Helms

Sprouts From Ash

Put in front of my worst fear
My reality begins to disappear
Skeletons sound the war drum
Living on forever numb
My sanity is coming undone
Black holes replace the sun

Let myself become the worst
Nothing able to quench my thirst
People I love dwindle away
Can’t understand what I say
Unable to do anything right
Stairs to heaven are too bright

What I have is falling apart
Stopping this before we start
Resting upon a funeral pyre
Please stop myself from setting a fire
Everything went up in a flash
A new life sprouts from ash
