Standing On The Edge Poem by Michael Micmac Mccrory

Standing On The Edge

Rating: 5.0

Standing on the edge
Today yet again
Here I stand in the rain
The soil beneath me
Turns to mud
Standing alone
With just memories
Of a fruitful past
The fruit now fallen
On the mucky grass

Standing like a smoking gun
All my bullets spent
Looking down a loaded barrel
Like a blind man in the glaring sun
No damage left to be done
All faculties have slowed down
All strength has flown away
At life I have tried
But yesterday I died
They bury me today

A dear friend
Someone just as old as me
Is by my grave today
Standing on the edge
Tomorrow who will it be
I’m lucky
It won’t be me

Fantastic poem. Wonderfully conceived. I liked it for its remarkable imagery and decent style. Rated it 10. TFS..... Kindly read and rate my poems 'A busy street' and 'A humble complaint' on page 1 & 2 respectively. Best regards Akmal
