Standing Over Myself Poem by Sven Rhoads

Standing Over Myself

Like the serpent shedding its skin
I stand over myself
To see what is left within
At the scene of the crash alone
Picking up the pieces
Leaving my former self a stone

Staring at the clouds
Screaming it all out loud
And nobody heard
Boy, I know it hurts
You can't win down in the dirt
You're on your own

Like recalling the current events
I stand over myself
Going over my spiraled descent
I can spend the hours, sorry for myself
Just wasting my breath
But it's still up to me, there's nobody else

Look into the mirror, see the damage done
With all the broken pieces, your mission has begun
Put it all back together and toss the rest
Your heart is scarred and broken, now begins the test

Staring at the sky of what's been done
Your choice lies with you now
Dust yourself off and just move along
Or wait for the hours to eat you away

After feeling down in a hole there's only one thing to do... Get out of the hole. Otherwise just let life throw dirt on you.
