Starved For Inspiration Poem by Lorde Zrock

Starved For Inspiration

I sit at my desk
elbows perched precariously on the edge of the surface
trying to imagine some inspiration for a poem
Cars and buses glide a story down from my window
kids are running track across the street
the national anthem plays at a soccer game in the field
While I just sit here
with a mental cloud blocking the sun to my brain
Blocking the genius I could be writing,
should be writing

Cheers sound from outside my open window
I could write about sports
Then again look at me now
Pathetically starving for ideas
slower than molasses
Physically weak
And sometimes, even now, I wonder if anyone else is in my situation
out of the billions of people on this earth
There could be someone who sympathizes with me
whom of course I wouldn't bother to meet
if I knew how I maybe would

Most people who write poetry use creative literary devices
comparing this to that in ways I could never do
They know exactly where to add a space
where to put the comma I can never place
how to intentionally rhyme
when I just happen to do so in a stroke of luck
There are things I need to do and try
Places to see
You know I would probably find some inspiration
If I just went outside
