Steady, If Ya Want? Poem by James Meaney

Steady, If Ya Want?

Steady with our lives
I turned to your hand -
Hold this tight
If you want to leave, we can
- your feelings, I can read
Your dreams of the calm
The creases swerve with speed
As your hand grips my palm
- All your life has been serious
I'm here to switch minds
Leave it up to fates decision
And sail this ship blind
- Our happiness is wide glowing
Ship speeding with winds blowing
And nothing is surer
than our connection growing
- Are bridges have all been burnt
So we can walk on solid ground
Our past behind us with the hurt
Ashes to ashes, Pound for pound.
