Still And Breathless Poem by LoraMae Hawkins

Still And Breathless

Rating: 5.0

Still and breathless I stood as the world moved in chaos,
and in an eternity of seconds, I was lost…
I thought to turn and run as my mind was chanting danger,
but my instinct ran awry, I was captivated…
Distance held an apparition as a silhoette only my heart knew,
at once my heart lept for joy, I was excited…
Light played in the shadows as the wind seemed to carry voice,
lulling me into a seductive sway, I was engaged…
My hungry eyes strained to see as my body trembled anticipation,
a figure teasing me from afar, I was intrigued…
Step by arduous step I felt my way though as would a blind soul,
longing to touch this enigma, I was driven…
There he was darting in and out of the shadows as if to play a game,
hide and seek or seek to hide, I was anxious…
At once there he stood delicious looking as though he knew me,
the scent of him my undoing, I was intoxicated…
I reached out my hand to touch his face as his eyes did compel
but touched only a shadow, I was dreaming…
