Stolen Heart Poem by Walterrean Salley

Stolen Heart

Smitten. Taken.
Dawn—beauteous and marvelous.
It gets me every time.
Magical transformation of the skies
Like the opening of a tomb.
The womb of the morning.
The descending of light
And heralding of a new day.
The hope of the ages.

Heaven's drapes are pulled,
Revealing many a wonder
Like the gilded skies.
Singing birds and babbling brooks.
Snow-capped mountains.
Rolling hills and deep-blue sea.
Woodland and dale.
All hidden behind the veil of night
Till dawn brings them to light.
It takes my breath away.
Dawn steals my heart.
