Stone Cold Religion

Among the masses
my way
make

in contempt
remain

deaf to
FALSE
prophets
whomever
speak

Am I sinner
among the
saints

solely due
to choice

I had not one
to make

in the garden

Where roses climb
ramble
in hedge rows
entangle

beauty
on guard
defending
with thorny
arsenal

columbine
and
primrose
with
wild grasses
along
boarders
edged

Not placed high
in a niche
walled in

out doors

Statuary
on
stone
pedestal

perpetual
heart
beats

scripture
sought
sanity

In arms

ask not
forgiveness
yet
understanding

where strength
lacks
I acknowledge

in arms embrace
hold ever the
fallen

against bosom

your grace
guarding
Spirituality

Arch Angel

Stone cold religion

Loves vision
sanctuary
sought

Legs draped over lap
ridged cloth cover

lounge back
rest your head

exhausted
wary

Eternal stare

and softly
back

with permafrost grin
frozen
chiseled chin
brows expressing
compassion
for ever
always

Love
unconditional

Tears
act of contrition
yours
inspired

Cold to the touch
heart warmth
felt

Sinner among the saints
stone cold religion
in the garden
where I may stay
wrapped safe
cast in stone
carve me a place
in the arms of
angels grace

wings
shrouding
doubts

Yet
have
faith

love thy self

With your
assistance

Poet's Notes about The Poem

In effigy, Angels are carved or cast in stone
In cemeteries, In places of sanctuary,
Religious icons, 'Send me the Guardians'
when the Gods Immortal seem occupied....
