Stooping To You Poem by Sarojkanta Dash

Stooping To You

I listen to your tiptoe
In the silence of night
Winds sing to you
And my heart
With your thought
Is filled up.

The rhythm of gently flapping leaves
Returns from you
To my eager heart;
My pulse through an unheard rhyme
Thrills with the flute there
Beyond and above a cacophony.

It is in this darkness
From a starry land of eternal beauty
You come to me with the grace of
Endless fancy;
Seeing your locks flying in the air
All over the sky,
And the grand chariot at hand
Commanding the northern horizon
I move away from myself
-Forgetful of the earth-
To your limitless larger world.

I spread myself elevated
Kiss the night all the time
When we both merge
With the same colour
And lofty thought.
