Stop Staring Poem by Danny Ballan

Stop Staring

Stop staring,
Your eyes are tearing my heart apart,
And the very ground beneath is shaking;

Stop staring.
What have we done? !
Look around you, around me!
There is nothing free.
There is he and she;
There is you and me;
But there is never we.
There is nothing free.

Stop staring at me;
Your looks are scaring the life out of me,
And the world is gone in a coma;
It's just your eyes that can see,
Or cannot see.
What is really happening?
When few is called humanity,
When one word is chosen and the book is gone,
When one flower survives in a barren wasteland,
When the bars are invisible, we are still not free,
When we know the road is long with no eyes to see,
When the world is a beautiful place, but the eyes are closed,
When the greatest tale of all stays untold,
When I see you waiting for me,
but I turn my eyes away,
And think I can lead this life alone,
And turn my ears into stone,
This is not free;

To watch you die on me,
And wait to hear your last breath
Just to tell you the truth,
When you are no longer here to hear what I say.
No, my brother, this is not free.
We are not free.
Do not die on me now.
You have my hand in your hand;
We both have some destiny,
Not alone can I do anything, no.
The thousand years of cold and snow
Has not frozen my heart, though;
I can still feel you,
I still know you, brother.
The dirt on your face is like mine on my heart.
I know you, brother.
Come along and let's join the same destiny.
I will clean your face as you cleaned my heart.
It is never too late to start
Living for each other.
It is never too late to start.
