Storyteller Poem by Vera Sidhwa

Storyteller

Rating: 5.0

Storyteller, tell us our story,
The only one we wish to hear.
The storyteller knew their own,
Stories they held dear.

These stories he was going to tell,
Were held in his heart so well.
He began with one and then another.
He began to speak then.

Each child, brother, sister,
Lover and friend,
Stood so perfectly still.
The intensity of listening was so still.

The story man spoke stories,
Of their hearts, of their souls and their spirits.
He spoke of their past, present and future.
These stories were of childhood,
Of aging and of mystery.

A man yelled and asked the storyteller,
How do you know these stories,
Because they're mine?
Then the crowd yelled and they're mine too.
