Stray Angels

for Jim Morrison

The best of him has come in pieces
Stricken, rotten and fragmentary
In words born on the road
Between six string and bottomless bottles

Through cage bars every star seems striped
While in tune every soul gets stripped
Rainbows scare fear, in death they trust
Needles like swords the arms do thrust

Both sweet and bitter potions
Bewildered of emotions they've set free
Nips whipping dreams of the angels-to-be
Crush substance of the ever unlocked doors

The best of him has gone in Paris
Symbol of freedom captivating fate
Too close to beauty with an empty gaze
Her hair ablaze lulled heart that found relief

Poem of the Day

poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

When the hours of Day are numbered,
And the voices of the Night
Wake the better soul, that slumbered,
To a holy, calm delight;
