Stray Cat's Streets Poem by Andrea Rieck

Stray Cat's Streets

These are my streets
From my birth I knew these winds
Cold with pain

I was unloved
One more scar
On these street’s endless chains

Forever dwell in solitude
My lone companion – the star farthest right
The sun to me was never a sight

I lived my life in rain and winter
No on passed me a glance
Were they afraid of my heart? My soul?

Or was it my pain?
A stained heart and a withering sigh
Hope had met it’s demise

I died alone
An insignificant Solstice night
The star I’d named my final sight

People, they all passed me by
No one cared for a cat in a deathbed of snow
A memory they chose not to know

My eyes began to close
I counted my breath…1…2…3…
And I let go

Now I walk on roads of stars
Breath of Fire – Thunder’s Lair
A place only souls can see

But these streets are forever mine
No matter how hard I try
They’ll never be left behind

It doesn’t matter from where the world I see
I was forgotten
A stray I’ll forever be
