Stream Of Consciousness Poem by Victor Cruickshank

Stream Of Consciousness

Stream of consciousness poem
Oh what a fine and beautiful morning
But yesterday was better
Except that it was too sunny
And that made it almost impossible to go to the beach
Except for that selfish Peter
Who wants us to rather visit my mom?
Yes, I know we promised her
But she- Did I forget something?
“Yesterday was your Mama’s birthday”
Did she have a party?
The last time I went to one, it was great
Papa’s last one was about a year ago
Oh poor Papa, why did he have to die?
And awww! ! ! Aunt Meredith gave birth to her son
That cute little boy, with his cute little face
Did her husband still live with her, last I heard he was in New York
And Uncle Matthew’s little boy is old now
“Clara lets go to the beach! ”
Finally, we’re going!
I convinced him!
It is hot enough to go to the beach
Or should we go to the pool in the backyard?
That pool was cleaned last summer
And that summer was the summer of the great heat wave
That was when Papa died, I could not cry much
But on the morn of his funeral Debbie’s cousin got married
Oh good gracious a wedding and funeral on the same day
But Debbie attended both ceremonies
Unlike Debbie’s cousin Jesse who attended only the wedding
But of course, he was the groom’s brother
“Quiet! ! ! Clara please! ! ! ”
“Let’s go to the beach already! ! ! ”
Is that a muffin, Peter?
It has been long since I tasted one
The last time was at Elizabeth’s wedding
Oh that poor girl whose husband took her away
“Clara! she travelled with him abroad, he is a businessman”
So why is it that she never called me
“It’s because you are too complacent”
That’s how he always treats me
Although I treat him dearly
I talk not of his noisy chewing
Nor of his pace that slows me down
If we ever were to run a race, I swear
He ‘the man’ would be the one to lose.
